Best 2013 Chevrolet Impala Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Options

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com, and today you're gonna be taking a look at the best trailer wiring options for your 2006 through 2013 Chevrolet Impala. Here we're gonna have our Curt wiring, which is gonna give us a four pole plat trailer connector, and then over here we're gonna have our Tekonsha wiring, which is also gonna give us a four pole flat trailer connector. Now, if I was looking for wiring for my Impala, I personally would go with the Curt because a few little things that they give you that the Tekonsha in the packaging. But let's take a closer look at some of the features of both of them.Since both of our kits are gonna give us that four pole flat trailer connector, it's gonna give us all the required lights to get down the road safely, like our tail lights, turn signals, and our brake lights. As far as installation goes, it is gonna be custom fit. We're not gonna have to worry about cutting or splicing with either one of our wiring kits. We're just gonna have a simple T connector that's gonna plug in line behind our passenger's side tail light. Now, Curt's gonna use the same T style connector to plug in behind the passenger tail light, but they're gonna provide you with some black silicone because there's a rubber grommet that we can cut a slit in, pass our wires through, and then our wiring is gonna stay inside the trunk until we need it.Whereas the Tekonsha is designed to stay on the outside, so we would route our four pole end towards the center of our hitch, and use some included zip ties to tie everything up.Once you have your T connector plugged in and our four pole routed wherever you'd like it, we're just gonna have a simple ring terminal, and they do provide us with a self-tapping screw to ground out the system.Another thing I like about the Curt is they give us about foot more four pole wire from the end of the four pole connector to the T connector, which is gonna help out a lot if we do decide to route it inside the trunk or just give us a lot more options so we can avoid any kind of heat sources or moving part that may damage the wire.To sum everything up, if you're looking for wiring for your Impala, I would recommend the Curt wiring kit because they are gonna provide us with more wire, which gives us more options of where and how we mount it up. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2009 Chevrolet Impala

Today on our 2009 Chevrolet Impala, we'll be installing the Tow Ready T-One Connector Trailer Wiring, part number 118417. To begin with we'll need to open the trunk of the vehicle. All of the connections will be made on the passenger side so that's where we'll be working. Before we can begin, we need to remove the center threshold of the trunk. To do this, there are two tabs, one on each side that will need to be removed first. Then we'll pry the center threshold up either with a trim panel tool or with a large flat head screwdriver. Once you have the center threshold out of the way, now we'll need to remove three plastic tabs or nuts that hold the light assembly in on the passenger side. You'll need to pull the carpet back on the passenger side to expose the three plastic nuts that you'll need to remove. more

Today we are going to install part number 118417 from Tow Ready. We are going to install this on a 2007 Chevrolet Impala. To install the T-1 connector, we have to get back behind the tail light assembly here and behind this plastic. We are also going to be taking off the passengers side tail light, too. And this whole panel will just pop up straight vertical. And we are going to take off this other wing nut right here. Now that we have got our tail light loose, we are going to just temporarily disconnect it from the wiring harness. And then this actual plug right here is where our T-1 connector is going to hook up to the vehicle. We will reconnect the T-1 connector back in, and just tuck that back between the bumper fascia and the body. And we are also going to take our 4-pole wire, and we are going to route that straight down, because that is going to come out by the hitch itself. Make sure to leave that ground wire, because we are going to attach it to the sheet metal below the tail light. And we will just clip our original wire harness back on. more
